Abstract
Perinatal depression affects approximately one in five Australian women, yet it remains under-recognised in primary care settings. Early identification and appropriate management can significantly improve outcomes for both mother and child.
This presentation will examine current screening approaches, diagnostic considerations that distinguish perinatal depression from normal adjustment, and evidence-based treatment pathways available to general practitioners. Particular attention will be given to prescribing in the perinatal period and indications for specialist referral.
The session will conclude with an open Q&A.
